Kind Financial is a company which builds systems to manage the control of legal cultivation of Marijuana for the government and the software features a “Seed to sale tracking”. Microsoft is joining the teams with Kind Financial on a software system that is powered by the Azure Cloud service. Microsoft will be working with Kind Financial offering software to the states where marijuana is approved, either for medicinal or recreational purposes so that governments can have a strict control of seeds and to examine either the seeds are been harvested in the proper way or not. The Executive director of Microsoft said, “We do think there will be significant growth, As the industry is regulated, there will be more transactions, and we believe there will be more sophisticated requirements and tools down the road.” According to the company press release “Microsoft selected KIND to participate in its newly created Microsoft Health and Human Services Pod for Managed Service Providers. The goal of this relationship is to leverage each company’s resources to provide State, County, and Municipalities with purpose built solutions for track and trace (‘seed to sale’ in the cannabis industry) technology.” The issue of marijuana is still controversy worldwide and its consumption remains prohibited at the federal level in the United States, but with medical or recreational marijuana now legalized in 25 states, and it is getting more with the time. The data provider and analysis of marijuana business Matthew A Karnes said: “It’s very telling that a company of this caliber is taking the risk of coming out and engaging with a company that is focused on the cannabis business.” Though marijuana is legalized for medical purpose but this is the first time a major US company like Microsoft joins in the business of Marijuana.
