Jimmy wales just launched a new, unaffiliated website which is named the WikiTribune. The purpose of launching WikiTribune is to tackle the plague of fake news on the web. Well, in WikiTribune users will find feature stories by professional journalists. As Reported by The Next Web “Wikitribune is a global news site that will feature stories by professional journalists; their articles will be vetted and fact-checked by volunteers, and efforts will be made to ensure maximum possible transparency about the sources of information for each piece.” Well, as we already mentioned the site is non-affiliated that indicates the service will be free to read and also free of ads. The service will rely on contributions from supporters. The starting plan of WikiTribune is to hire 10 reporters if it reaches its first funding goal. Well, don’t confuse WikiTribune as Wikinews, both of these are a vastly different approach. Wikinews relies on stories from around the world and anyone can publish content there. However, on WikiTribune writers will have to provide the source of each fact which makes it a great tool the world can rely on. So, what do you think about this?
