Now, the USB 3.0 Promoter Group has announced that the USB-type C 3.2 version will arrive by the end of this current year, of course, 2017 and will allow its users to transfer files at a speed of up to 20 Gbps. After the launch of the USB-Type C 3.1 standard, the launch of USB-Type C 3.2, which will double the transmission speed to 20 Gbps, however, it is scheduled for 2019. But, guess what is the more interesting thing about this; as this new standard comes with support for multi-track data transfers as well. This means that the new USB-Type C 3.2 will simply allow data to be transferred in two 5 Gbps bands or two 10 Gbps bands (which amounts to 20 Gbps in the latter case), isn’t it sound great. Let me clear it, in brief, the new USB 3.2 hosts and devices can now be designed as multi-lane solutions, allowing up to two lanes of 5 Gbps or two lanes of 10 Gbps operation. This enables platform developers to continue advancing USB products to fit their customers’ needs by effectively doubling the performance across existing cables. For example, a USB 3.2 host connected to a USB 3.2 storage device will now be capable of performing over 2 GB/sec data transfer performance over an existing USB Type-C cable that is certified for SuperSpeed USB 10 Gbps. The new USB 3.2 should only arrive at the end of the year, as we told earlier, and the equipment that will integrate this new standard should only reach the market in 2019. In September 2017 will be held the USB Developer Days, where more information will undoubtedly be revealed.
