This is not limited to smartphones and browsers and can affect these 2 platforms, collecting data from users without their knowledge. Apps are identified and should be removed immediately. Discovered by AdGuard Research, this new malware campaign is affecting a wide range of equipment and platforms. Its base comes from various apps and extensions of browsers, in order to collect the browsing history of users. This campaign was detected not only on Android but also on iOS itself, where it is present in a number of applications, and even in Chrome and Firefox, where it entered as compromised extensions housed in the stores of these browsers. It is estimated that 11 million infected devices are already being used to collect user data, especially Internet sites that are visited during use. In the case of Android, the apps that were detected as being affected are from the American company Big Star Labs and are available in the Play Store. On iOS, these apps were installed from outside the App Store. Almost all of these apps promise to block advertising and prevent pop-ups by asking users to access their history, which would treat them anonymously. In fact, this data is collected and sent in a clear way, and then shared with companies dedicated to marketing. Of course, all these apps and extensions, if installed and used, should be removed immediately to bring back user security and to prevent your data from being collected without your permission.
